Smart Mobility and Transportation

Through a multifaceted approach, this module guides students in identifying key concerns and obstacles within mobility and transportation systems, forecasting the future of transportation systems, designing innovative smart mobility models, and enhancing urban mobility solutions.

40 Study hours

MODULE CONTENTS

The City of Tomorrow: Students will delve into the complex urban mobility system, exploring concepts like transit-oriented development, flow analysis, and multimodality. They will learn how activity-based multi-agent modeling plays a crucial role in shaping smart cities.

Human Behavior Change: Understanding human behavior is central to the future of mobility. This part of the module investigates the dynamics of resident and occasional users and explores the world of multimodality and intermodality, including public transport, carsharing, and active mobility. Students will also discover strategies for engaging and communicating with users and citizens to promote sustainable mobility solutions.

The Vehicle in its Environment: The module takes a deep dive into the evolving information systems that underpin smart mobility. This section covers the connected and hyperconnected vehicle, autonomous vehicles, open data Wi-Fi vehicles, and CAM (Communication Access Module), as well as the concept of the “sensor” vehicle and digital services.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon completing this module, students will:

Identify Major Mobility Issues: Gain the ability to recognize and analyze the major issues and challenges within mobility and transport systems, laying the foundation for innovative solutions.

Design Smart Mobility Models: Develop the skills to conceptualize and design smart mobility models that address the specific needs of urban environments.

Assess Future Transport Evolution: Understand and assess the potential evolution of transport systems, giving students the means to adapt to the changing mobility landscape.
